About CLAT


CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) is a non - statutory body established under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the convenience of students seeking admission to the country's various national law universities. An entrance test is conducted to provide a list of candidates for admission to their UG / PG programs based on ' merit - cum - preference, as per the eligibility, reservation and other criteria laid down under the respective statutes of the participating Universities. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an all - India entrance test conducted by 26 National Law Universities (NLUs) on rotation for admission to their undergraduate and postgraduate programs. CLAT UG

  1. Education qualification : Class 12 or equivalent exam with at least 45% marks (40% for SC and ST categories)
  2. Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam : Are also eligible to appear in the CLAT 2024
  3. Age limit : No age limit
  4. Number of Attempts : No limit

CLAT PG

  1. Education qualification : Graduation in Law (3-year LLB or 5-year LLB) with at least 50% aggregate marks (45% in the case of SC and ST candidates)
  2. Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam : Are also eligible to appear in the CLAT 2024
  3. Age limit : No age limit
  4. Number of Attempts : No limit

The CLAT 2024 syllabus serves as a guide for candidates, detailing the crucial topics and subjects essential for exam preparation. Exam Pattern: -


The Consortium of NLUs has introduced modifications to the CLAT 2024 exam pattern. In a notification issued earlier this year, the Consortium reduced the number of questions in the CLAT UG paper from 150 to 120, granting candidates more time for each question. The CLAT PG exam pattern remains unchanged. Candidates can refer to the table below to familiarize themselves with the test pattern. The CLAT exam pattern for 2024 provides essential information such as the number and type of questions, marking scheme, duration, and other crucial details.

In an online declaration, the CLAT result for the year 2024 was announced on December 10, 2023. The result includes the candidates' examination marks, along with their All India Rank and category rank. Candidates who passed the exam have been extended invitations for CLAT counseling, with registrations commencing on December 11.
